Cricket Dash is an annual fun run and fundraiser that brings the entire school community together for a afternoon of running, cheering, music, and school spirit.
The Cricket Dash is a school-wide event where students participate in a fun, healthy running and walking activity during the school day.
Students run or walk around a looped course on the lower soccer fields, counting the number of laps they complete during their designated running time. A DJ helps keep the energy high, and spectators are encouraged to cheer everyone on from the sidelines!
Students participate in two groups:
4K–2nd Grade — our younger Crickets run together.
3rd–5th Grade — our older Crickets run together.
Each group has time to get to the field, warm up, complete the Cricket Dash, cool down, and enjoy a post-race snack.
The Cricket Dash is about much more than fundraising. Our goals are to:
Build school spirit and bring the Crestwood community together
Encourage a fun and healthy approach to exercise
Build teamwork and a sense of unity
Raise money to support CAPT programming throughout the school year
Funds raised through the Cricket Dash help support things such as teacher requests and classroom materials, birthday books, outdoor education, field trips, and other programs that benefit Crestwood students.
Before the event, students and families can use the online pledge system and/or pledge sheet to collect sponsors. Sponsors can choose to pledge a certain amount per lap or make a fixed donation.
On Cricket Dash day, students:
Run or walk laps around the course on the lower soccer fields.
Keep track of the number of laps they complete.
Run to music and enjoy the energy from the DJ.
Cheer on their classmates and celebrate together.
Enjoy a healthy post-race snack.
Receive a ribbon showing how many laps they completed.
And every participating student receives a FREE Crestwood Cricket Dash T-shirt to help build school spirit and make the event extra special!
