Crestwood Association of Parents and Teachers

Thank You to Local Businesses and Volunteers!

The return of the Caper this past spring was a smashing success, and it would not have been possible without the huge number of volunteers who dedicated their time and talents, as well as generous donations from local businesses. From these efforts, we raised nearly $8300 to support Crestwood in the 2022-23 school year. Bravo!

August Playdates for All Grade Levels

With the beginning of school right around the corner, CAPT is hosting grade-level playdates. All incoming Crestwood students and their families are welcome. Bring some water to stay cool, and CAPT will bring the freezie pops! Make new friends, see old friends, and have fun playing for an hour. See you there!

All playdates will be at the Crestwood playground.

Fun Run Volunteers Needed

We're looking for 3 or 4 volunteers to organize and manage the Fun Run that will take place on October 6. This will be our first fundraiser of the year and an event the kids will love! If interested please contact Karen Gibson, karengibson@crestwoodcapt.us.

Get Involved with CAPT

Did you know that CAPT Volunteers are a critical component to most of the events you know and love at Crestwood? From communications to fundraising, events like Science Night, Art Night, the Lantern Walk, the (ALL NEW!) Fun Run, Staff Appreciation and Book Fairs—the list is LONG! Please do your part to help support these efforts, and sign up here for a volunteer position for the coming year.

The link above takes you to a document that outlines all the volunteer positions with descriptions, and there are still many opportunities to help.

Welcome Teachers with Breakfast

Our hardworking teachers will be back at school on August 24. Let's welcome them back for their first full day with a yummy breakfast on CAPT. We'll have food brought in by a local spot, but need your help to make it happen. Give with a monetary donation here, by August 20. Please put "staff breakfast" in the memo section. We know they'll feel all the love!

Volunteer at Crestwood

MMSD and Crestwood are looking for volunteers to support school staff. Opportunities include classroom support, clerical support, custodial support, food service support, supervision support—help with arrival/dismissal, lunch/recess, and hallways tutoring support.

Volunteers must submit required information in a streamlined process, and learn additional details. It is important to note, volunteers and applicants must provide evidence of COVID vaccination and, depending on position, will be subject to a background check.

School Supply Ordering

School Toolbox, a school supply delivery company, is now taking orders. Ordering is available at www.schooltoolbox.com, and if placed promptly, should arrive before school starts. Free shipping for orders over $75, with 10% of proceeds going back to CAPT. Boxes are pre-configured by grade level (and last name, where applicable) for ease of ordering, but are also customizable allowing you to remove any supplies you do not need.

Note that this is our first year utilizing this service, and we hope to make improvements for next year. Many families had expressed their desire to see a program like this at Crestwood, and CAPT listened. We are using this as a mini-fundraiser and pilot for next year, where we will hopefully be able to deliver directly to school and avoid the delivery fees. Please share any and all feedback on your experience with the process!
