Crestwood Association of Parents and Teachers

Explore Science Night

We are excited to see 30+ student presenters, as well as several school/community presenters, show off their new scientific findings!

Please join us this Tuesday, April 26th from 6:00-7:30pm in Crestwood's outdoor space. MMSD guidance on masking will be followed at this event (there will be bathroom access during the event, and masks are required indoors). Please consult the symptom screener prior to attendance.

We are still looking for people to help set up/tear down, donate snacks, staff the welcome table (30 min shift), and to monitor bathroom access and order (30 min shift). See how you can help.

If you have a folding table to loan for the evening please email Melanie Ivanicic at melivancic@gmail.com.

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week will be the Week of May 2, and we have a few events and treats planned to show our amazing Crestwood teachers and staff how much we appreciate them! The theme this year is Superheroes!

How can you help?

  • Wednesday, May 4th will be Dress Up like a Superhero day. We invite staff and students to dress up for school that day as a superhero.

  • We are asking for students and families to send in cards, drawings, or posters for their classroom teachers, specials teachers, and all the awesome support staff on Wednesday, May 4th. Going with the Superhero theme, you may ask your kids to write about "What is your teacher's superpower?" But feel free to get creative and write and draw whatever you like to show your appreciation! You can send cards and small items to school with your kids. If you make a poster or larger item you'd like to have hung up at the school, you can contact Marcy Wright (marcy.bice@gmail.com) to arrange for a drop off.

  • We are also hoping to spruce up the Staff Lounge with some furniture and decorations to make it a welcoming place for our teachers and staff. If you would like to donate new or gently used items that are listed below, please contact Kenna Hawkins (Kennahanna@msn.com) to make arrangements.

    • 1 loveseat in a neutral color

    • 2 comfy armchairs in neutral colors

    • 1 coffee table

    • 1 end table

    • 1-2 newer microwaves

    • Plants --artificial or real

  • Any monetary donations would be helpful as well and would go toward the Staff Lounge project, supplies and decorations, and for lunch for the teachers and staff that week. You can send donations via Paypal, Venmo, or check using this link: https://www.crestwoodcapt.us/donate. Make sure to make a note that this is for Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week.

Earth Day/Arbor Day

Crestwood Outdoor Ed is excited to participate in this year's Earth Day/Arbor Day all school tree planting event! Planting trees and maintaining our "School Forest" celebrates the importance and the beauty of trees in our environment. Amy Ford, Crestwood's Farm-to-School gardener, has provided the Tuesdays of April 19th and 26th (weather permitting!). There are about 100 trees to plant, representing four different species of trees or shrubs (Red oak, White pine, Hazelnut, and American elderbery). Students teams of 3-4 students will plant one tree, allowing all Crestwood students to be involved.

Caper Carnival Volunteers Needed

On May 14th at Crestwood, we will be attempting our first (in recent history) outside school carnival, The Crestwood Caper, "In Full Bloom." There will be an obstacle course, an array of carnival games, bake sale and cake raffle, food trucks, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and much more!

For this very special in-person (yay!) event, we need your help. Not only is the Caper one of our most beloved events, but it's also the biggest fundraiser—100% of the funds raised go back to benefit Crestwood. Parent volunteers are absolutely essential, so please lend a hand and donate an hour or more of your time, whether it's setting up or manning a booth at the event, contributing to the bake sale or auction, or helping to coordinate ahead of time.

>>CLICK HERE to view the signup for a full breakdown of roles. There are still many opportunities to help, we cannot do this without you!
