Crestwood Association of Parents and Teachers

Thursday - Noodles & Co Restaurant Share Night

Our first share night fundraiser of 2023 is coming up on Thursday, January 26 (4-8 pm), at Noodles & Co (7050 Mineral Point Road). Place your order online, through the app, or in store using code GIVING25 and CAPT will receive 25% of sales during the event. Proceeds from this event will go towards clearing negative lunch balances for Crestwood scholars, as well as the construction of a Little Free Library at Crestwood!

Ryan Haack Coming to Crestwood

We’ve added a BONUS event this year that wasn’t on our original schedule. On Friday March 3 the kids will attend a special assembly by local author and Crestwood Alum, Ryan Haack, during the school day (times can be found on our Calendar). Then, that evening we’ll hold an event to celebrate the uniqueness of every Crestwood Cricket! Keep an eye out for details!

My name is Ryan Haack and I’m an author, blogger, speaker, and dad. Oh, and I have one hand. I’ve created a program called: Different Is Awesome! Acknowledging, Accepting and Celebrating What Makes Us Unique! I was born missing my left arm just below the elbow, so I’m no stranger to being or feeling different. It’s my goal to help students (grades K-12, but especially our younger ones) realize that we’re all different and not only is that ok – it’s AWESOME!”

Crestwood Caper Planning

Planning for this Spring's biggest event—the Crestwood Caper Carnival and Auction—starts early, and we need parents to help in the planning process. For those unfamiliar, this event takes place on a Saturday in May. Each classroom is assigned to run a booth. There are games, prizes, food, and new this year, a makers area. We also hold an auction with donations from individuals and businesses in the community. Because there are quite a few moving parts, and the scope of this event is huge—we start lining up donations and vendors early. The funds raised are integral to the support we give to the school, teachers and students throughout the year.

There are many ways you can help, big and small. Please email karengibson@crestwoodcapt.us if you’d like to be a part of the team.

Trivia Night Volunteers Needed

The past few years we’ve hosted an online Trivia Night, but this year we have an opportunity to get back together in person. February 25* is the date on our calendar, but we didn’t get any volunteers when the main signup circulated in the fall. This is a super fun night out—for adults only!—and one of the easier events to plan. Without volunteers however, we’ll unfortunately have to cancel. Please email president@crestwoodcapt.us for details if you’re interested in making it happen.

*There is flexibility with the date!

Winter Wear Drive hosted by Black Belt America

Black Belt America is currently holding a winter wear drive to benefit Crestwood. Donate a new item of outside clothing and BBA will match your donation, now through January 31st. Items especially in need are waterproof gloves and snow pants (sizes 7-12). Drop off donations in the lobby at 502 S. High Point Road or email amyirving@crestwoodcapt.us for alternate arrangements.

Outdoor Ed Needs Your Upcycling Help!

Our next Outdoor Education project (K-5) is growing microgreens! In order to make this possible, we need your help collecting clear, plastic clamshell berry containers (from raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, or blueberries). Please rinse out the containers before sending them to school. We are also in need of newspapers. All donations need to be received by February 15. Students can deliver them to their classroom teacher or directly to Mrs. Allen (in 3rd grade).
