Crestwood Association of Parents and Teachers

Comin' in Hot

Our 2nd annual Cricket Dash will be here before we know it. This fast-paced event takes place on Saturday, October 14, from 10:00 am - Noon!

Keep an eye out for informational packets coming home with your students this week! These packets contain all you need to know about registering your lap pledges and day-of event info. Here are the handouts in electronic form if you’d like a sneak peek: All About A Fun Run (Todo sobre una carrera divertida) Pledge Instructions (Instrucciones de compromiso).

The Cricket Dash is an awesome community-building event. Families cheer while scholars run on a track in the Crestwood field, and our very own DJ Andre keeps everyone pumped! As our first fundraiser of the year, this is an important event, and an opportunity to reach out to family and friends to help support Crestwood! With funds raised, CAPT provides a host of benefits in and out of the classroom including transportation from ALC for events, food and DJ for events; school supplies; spirit T-shirts; assemblies; teacher appreciation and much more! (BudgetBreakdown.docx)

New this year:

• The event will take place on a Saturday morning and includes snacks and family socializing after the run.

• Partially funded by local businesses, we will be purchasing a Cricket Dash T-shirt for all students (whether they can attend the event or not). This can serve as a school spirit shirt all year!

Prizes!! Four lucky scholars who run at the event will have their name drawn for a FREE Platinum pass to Urban Air Madison. An adult event attendee will have their name drawn for up to 4 FREE Screamin’ Acres Haunted House passes. Four lucky runners who fundraise any amount of money will have their name drawn for a FREE Platinum pass to Urban Air Madison.

Volunteers Needed for Cricket Dash

It takes a lot of volunteers to make the Cricket Dash a great event! We need parent volunteers to work the check-in area, down on the field marking laps, set up and tear down. We can't do it without your help.

Volunteering at Crestwood

We look forward to this new year working in partnership with you to enhance the educational and community experience for all scholars here at Crestwood.

By contributing to the healthy functioning of our school, whether through volunteer time, specific skills, or participation, the parent body can support our school with its cooperative effort. Parent involvement in our school is important because we are building a community and demonstrating this community-building spirit to our children. The value of our community-at-large is the sum total of all its parts. We welcome you and encourage you to become a valuable and integral part of CAPT.

2023-24 Volunteer Signup. Here you’ll find a list of opportunities big and small, in bite-sized pieces across the year, or bigger commitments confined to a short part of the calendar, including ways to help both in-person or remotely.

More resources for volunteers: If you’re not sure what’s entailed with a particular task or event, you can check the “logistics” document, which details everything from purpose and scope, to budget, to-do lists, pre-made signups, and editable flyers. These documents can be found at the hyperlinks in the 2023-24 Volunteer Signup. In addition, we now have two columns in the signup, showing both the volunteers for the previous year as well as the upcoming year. This provides a direct resource for questions from someone with firsthand experience. If you still have questions, please reach out!
